Overview
The University of Kentucky (UK, UKY, or U of K) is a public land-grant research university in Lexington, Kentucky1. It was founded in 1865 by John Bryan Bowman as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Kentucky1. The university is one of the state's two land-grant universities, the other being Kentucky State University1. UK is one of only eight institutions in the country with the full complement of liberal arts, engineering, professional, agricultural and medical colleges and disciplines on one contiguous campus2. As of fall 2022, the university has a total undergraduate enrollment of 22,735
